What to do in case of an accident
If you witness an accident:
- secure the site of the accident
- if necessary, call the emergency number, 112
- wherever possible, mark the location of the accident
- note the names and addresses of any witnesses
- safeguard all evidence
- note the number plates of all vehicles involved.
If you are involved in the accident:
- record and verify the validity and accuracy of the papers of the other driver and obtain a copy of the green card
- request police intervention if there is any disagreement. Get contact information for the police who respond
- report even the slightest injury
- feel free to add to the report if you remember a detail
What are the important formalities?
- Report the accident to your insurance company by registered mail--the important discussions between the insurance companies about a settlement are crucial for you
- Remember to report a work-related accident if the accident occurred while you were commuting
